Collecting...Not...Hoarding!

Collect things that speak to you. Things that you like to look at and maybe they bring back warm memories from when you were a kid. Or,heck, they are just pretties. I love vintage stuff (really Merry?) and one of my favorite things to collect are old plates. I can accept a chip or two and have many (many) displayed on the walls of my kitchen...living room... bedroom...bathroom...Yes, hello, my name is Merry and I'm a plate collector!

Mostly I love vintage plates and I also have some very very old antique plates as well. Those have lots of crazing (those teeny tiny crackles along the surface of the piece) that gives them such character.

Well, more later...in the meantime...here are some pics of some of my plates... Enjoy!

Hmmm, Got Distracted With Other Stuff...But the Booth is Boomin!!

Hello! We're back! Well, we really didn't go anywhere...we just didn't have time to do . . . This. So, while we we not away...we have been filling up and building Up the Booth. It's crazy full and things are selling very well. Our house is feeling a lot roomier with less and less of the stuff we accumulated over the years. We have kept those wonderful things that we just love to look at and collect AND display. It's not a collection folks, if it's stashed away in a box in a closet or up in the attic...More about that in the next entry...Here is a virtual tour of the TaDa! Booth!

The Adventures of Marley the Wonder Cat!

The kitty featured in our banner pic is our beloved Marley. Just a few weeks ago during a windy and stormy night, Marley disappeared. We looked throughout the neighborhood for days and put up signs of our lost kitty. No luck. :-(

Marley roamed around on his own for a week or so before he found a family in the next neighborhood to hang with for a few days. They took him to the vet and had him scanned...low and behold! Marley had a chip...I didn't remember that from when we adopted him years ago...silly me...

I received a phone call from those chip people and a week ago today brought Marley across the street to his rightful hood. He was a little banged up and had lost some weight, but now has settled back into his daily napping routine and has definately caught up with his kibble intake.

Welcome back baby boy...we really missed you and we're glad you're home. :-)

It's the End of the Day on Monday... :-)

Hello!

One more trip with three more bins-o-stuff. Funny, the little booth just absorbs everything we put there...Sold a few things already! Woo Hoo! Dennis is on the hunt for a small cabinet that can be locked so precious bejewels don't "walk away." He's also going to venture all the way down to St. Pete to check out a few good thrift stores that folks told us about.

Another good night's sleep ahead of us... :-)

Our Booth at Knot on Main Street is Transforming Before Our Eyes!!

Hello!

Well, at the end of the day yesterday, after three car loads and one scary ride with a huge bookcase on the roof...we managed to "square" away our little "rectangle" of a booth! Here are more pics! Our backs are just a wittle sore...

We received a warm welcome from everyone! It was a fun day!

More later . . .

Good Morning!

Have been real busy gathering up all of our "cultch"...We decided to rent some space in a local antique mall and sell some "stuff" there. The rent isn't much and they only take 10% of each sale ~ So we thought it was a good idea. We've collected oodles of stuff over the years...Last night was spent pricing and we now have four large bins ready to go.This morning we will muscle over (oh the place is just a mile or so from us) a few bookcases to use for displays. Then we'll merchandise! Dennis painted a few uglies and made them pretty with some pale yellow paint. He also painted the screen and I put the fabric on the back. We'll use this to hang different things on.

Dennis will get back to the Hoosier sometime this week...maybe!

Another Transformation of the Old Hoosier

Hello! We are going to post the progress of another overhaul of our very cool Hoosier. We drove from Cape Elizabeth, Maine to Poughkeepsie, New York many years ago to pick it up. We had purchased it on ebay and decided it would be a fun trip...and it was! This piece was used as a display in our Shoppe at the time, and later, as a desk in our kitchen. When we bought the Hoosier, it was a very chippy and worn cream color that we covered with (my favorite) apple green. We are planning to haul it out of the garage and back into the house as a fine, functional addition to our household!  Stay tuned! xo Merry

Good morning ~ Here's Marley the Wonder Cat...Gazing out his west facing window. He is contemplating the first of many napping places for the day...  :-)
